Job Description

The primary purpose of the Health Care Facilities Specialist is to have the responsibility for operational health care related issues.  This position is to ensure all life safety processes are followed and works directly with the Long-Term Mutual Aid Program.  This position will implement the preventative maintenance program of all mechanical equipment and to complete necessary and scheduled work order repairs.  Contributes to the achievement of excellence through the quality and care values in line with the mission of Duncaster.

  • Keeps the Director of Facilities informed of all operational matters.
  • Maintain an active wheelchair service and preventative maintenance program.
  • Maintain a facility assessment program.
  • Ensure all life-safety issues are addressed promptly.
  • Work directly with Fire Consultant to perform mandated fire drills.
  • Maintain water management program.
  • Be the point person for the Long Term Care – Mutual Aid program.
  • Recognizes the value and contribution of fellow employees as demonstrated by cooperation and teamwork.
  • Demonstrates dependability by completing commitments within established guidelines and completing necessary repairs.
  • Performs and/or contacts contractor for scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Maintains generator in good repair. Completes daily inspection of generator room.  Completes weekly generator testing.
  • Maintains EST3 system daily to assure proper operation. Competes daily inspection of system and completes necessary repairs.
  • Completes all necessary documentation for inspections, testing etc. as required.
  • Notifies manager and/or appropriate administrative personnel of serious mechanical problems in facility which may affect patient care or operations.
  • Calls outside contractors as appropriate with necessary approvals from Director of Facilities.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize work and functions in an organized manner.
  • Orders necessary supplies in a timely fashion and within budget guidelines.

 

Job Requirements

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of blueprints, schematics and physical plant equipment.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing equipment.
  • Must have five years trade experience.
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Must have basic knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must have a high school education degree or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be willing to take on call rotation.
  • Must be computer literate.
