Job Description

We are looking for a Facilities Supervisor who can demonstrate the ability to supervise a dynamic and diverse workforce on a daily basis. The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Facilities in the facility management and associated responsibilities, including supervision of maintenance staff.  This person will be able to display leadership qualities by direct interaction, on-the-job training and positive results gained.  Must be capable of handling multiple tasks and must be able to distribute the workload in a fair and amicable manner.  This position will be required to manage all shifts and weekend staff in both the Commons Building and Caleb Hitchcock.

  • Demonstrates the ability to adapt to various situations; be able to perform a variety of tasks, i.e. electrical, plumbing, mechanical, building and energy automations systems, assigning work orders, performing and scheduling preventative maintenance, vendor and staff management. 
  • Demonstrates ability to manage resources; staff, time, and materials.  Supervisor shall ensure that all assigned staff requirements are met on a daily basis based on the current and projected staffing needs.  Management of materials to ensure little or no downtime when systems fail and make certain an ample supply of materials to perform normal repairs and preventative maintenance are available.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work as a team player throughout the organization.  Work with peers, staff and other department personnel to make the organization the best that it can be.   Create positive internal and external relationships and teams to ensure that Duncaster is operating at its highest and most efficient level.  
  • Makes sound decisions in the absence of immediate supervisor and manager. 

 

Job Requirements

  • Must have general facility maintenance knowledge.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of blueprints, schematics and physical plant equipment.
  • Must have general knowledge of refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and plumbing equipment.
  • Must have five years trade experience and/or a trade license.
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Must have basic knowledge of supervisory principles and practices in a maintenance shop environment.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must have a high school education degree or equivalent.
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
